Okay, so here's the real truth on this place. It's a MOTEL. Like, the old-fashioned ones where it's owned by a family who lives in one of the rooms. It's decorated with thrift store furniture and it has a run-down feel. So what? You don't live there. You're just staying a night or two. Plus, it's cheap. I'm 23, and my fiancee is 25. We don't care about stupid crap like decor and supreme cleanliness in a motel. Dust? Pshhh. I don't invent things to complain about - if anything, I would have been mad if something didn't work. Or if I found rodents. I didn't, so we were good. It was cheap and it was only 15 minutes away from B-93 Birthday Bash. I'd much rather stay here any day than camp in a tent and have to shower publicly from a long pipe with holes cut in it. It wasn't gross, it just wasn't new. However, I did notice the bedspread was relatively new, and the sheets were clean. They didn't stink or have stains. I was surprised since the other reviews claimed I was going to get bed bugs or something. The mattress itself was pretty firm. That doesn't bother me, but my fiancee said it was too firm for his back. The TV is old, but you have cable with a lot of channels! You also get a microwave and MINI-FRIDGE. The A/C unit worked awesome as well. The bathroom was not scary and STD-giving like past reviews say... it had an older toilet that I prayed wouldn't overflow, and the shower/tub was the kind where you put the plastic walls up rather than it being one big piece. So it wasn't pretty, but who cares? To address the "rudeness" of the owners... when I called to make the reservation I admit the guy on the phone was pretty grumpy. We had a bad connection and it irritated him, but whatever. After getting the "last room" he told me that I couldn't cancel (um, okay it was literally the night before... why would I cancel?) and I said that was fine. He then proceeded to tell me that he doesn't have time to keep dealing with cancellations and trying to find new occupants. Well, it was TMI, but honestly, I'm young and just brush that crap off. My grandma might have been offended, but I was just was happy to get a room. When we checked in, the lady was very friendly. We had a minor mishap with her charging my credit card (that I gave over the phone) because the guy had told me I could pay cash upon check-in. I didn't really care, but I figured a small business would appreciate cash so I was surprised when she automatically handed me a receipt to sign and said "I thought I could pay cash?" She felt bad and kept apologizing, even after I said it wasn't a problem, so I would call that far from being rude. In the morning you don't even have to deal with checking out, you just leave your key in the room or drop it in the key box outside the office. I can appreciate a fast checkout, especially when you feel like crap from the day before. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the experience of staying there was good for us, but it's not like we loved the place. It was a motel, and it worked for the occasion. I think it would be good for people who want to come have fun at Gun Lake or Birthday Bash, but I wouldn't stay here as a romantic getaway. However, if you want to save money and spend it on other things, stay here! It's not the ritz, but it's decent. I mean, it has a mini-fridge... what more can you want? I took a bunch of pictures to prove the place isn't terrible, but I can't upload them apparently. I'll upload them on Yelp or something. Oh, and the place isn't where Google Maps says it is... it's not right on the corner of the intersection by McDonald's... it's down about a mile. There is a big sign though at the intersection that guides you. If you come from 131, you turn right on Patterson and it's down a mile on your right.

It is quiet and peaceful here. The rooms are old fashioned but clean. You have a private entrance and there is an awning, so if you are a smoker (smoking outside only) you will be protected from the elements. They have cable TV but no WiFi but you can sign into your own wifi if you have service. It is close to the casino, grocery store, gas station, and 131. They are very affordable and reasonable. This is a good place for one night or more when on a tight budget but looking for peace and cleanliness. I recommend this place to anyone down to earth and on a budget.
